"break the silence"というのは　『沈黙を破る』　という意味です。

それでは、"break the silence"を使ってみましょう。

To break the silence simply means to make a noise interrupting a period of silence.

     Situation: Mary decided to divorce her husband.     

     Nancy: Are you sure about your decision Mary?

     Mary: Yes I am. I have been keeping my silence for a long time now. 

     Nancy: Whatever happens Mary, don't forget that I'm here. I will help you.

     Mary: Thanks Nancy. It's about time for me to break the silence. 

                 My children deserve the right to know the truth why I am divorcing their father.
