今日のスマートイングリッシュは"not my cup of tea"です。＾＾

“not my cup of tea.”を直訳すると、『私の紅茶ではない』という意味になりますが、
この“one’s cup of tea”には、『好きなもの、好み、性に合うもの』という意味がありますね。

つまり、“not my cup of tea.”と言うのは『私の好みじゃない・私の趣味じゃない』などという意味になります。

この表現は、イギリスの紅茶文化に由来するもので、
イギリス人にとって、自分が飲む紅茶には、かなりのこだわりがあるものなので、
“my cup of tea”と言うと、『私の紅茶』＝『私の好きなもの、私の好み』ということになるのもうなずけますね。

それでは、"not my cup of tea"を使ってみましょう。
